Wedge heels are a versatile and very stylish choice, and they come in all heights, and styles from casual to elegant. But, they won’t look great on everyone, and they won’t go with every outfit. Here, we’ll go over the pros and cons of wedges, and what clothing looks best with them.
Wedge heels add height, but they are a lot easier to walk in than their stiletto-heeled counterparts. The heel runs almost the entire length of the shoe. They will add definition to your ankles and calves, making stocky ankles appear thinner. These shoes go well with skirts and dresses of almost any length, and they add a sophisticated, fashionable touch to your outfit.
As cute and stylish as wedges are, they aren’t for everyone. Just because the wider heel provides more stability, doesn’t mean that you can run a few miles in them. They are still high heels, and should be worn with care. Also, when paired with certain clothing, like skinny jeans, pencil skirts, and capris, they can look sort of clunky. Most wedges are a little more casual. There are fancier styles of wedges, but finding really elegant ones can be a task in itself. And, a thicker wedge heel can make thin ankles look even skinnier.
Wedges look great with:
-Long, flowing skirts
-More “bohemian” clothing
-Gaucho pants
-Flare leg jeans or slacks
Things NOT to wear with your wedges:
-Capri pants
-Straight-leg jeans
-Slim or pencil skirts
While they have their drawbacks, wedges are a fun and easy way to add flair to your wardrobe. Wear them with style!
