Duck Boots have been around for a long time and were really big in the 80s. Who didn’t have ducky, duckies, or duck boots back then. I remember clearly wearing my ducky boots out in the rain in New England growing up. Soon after that they went out of style from the mainstream markets. The reasons were probably because back then, they were simple and quite a bit drab. For us who loved their ducks boots though , the years is the time to celebrate their resurgence.
Now these boots are made by some of today’s hottest designers. Duck Boots are easy to recognize by their unique look. A duck boot is a waterproof and winterized boot that has a rubber sole bottom, rubber covering the toe and top of the foot above the rubber portion you will find winterized leather the rest of the way up. The leather area has a lace up area so you can ensure a snug fit. You will find duck boots that are short, ending right above the ankle, though most are mid calf length. While it is easy to see the waterproof portion of these boots, you do not see that these boots have a natural or synthetic fur lining, making these boots the perfect choice for either a rainy day or cold and snowy. There are similar versions that are much sorter, fitting right below the ankle, called Duckie Boots that have the same rubber area but a much smaller leather area. These boots are often not lined, making them more appropriate for rain only. Two of today’s hottest and most sought after designers have updated and interpreted these boots for the modern woman.
Some of our favorite best duck boots are the following :
Tory Burch has designed one of the best duck boots. Her boots are a taller pair ending mid calf. Her water resistant boot with fur lining feature a Veg leather trim, genuine rabbit fur lining, and nylon body. The soles are non skid rubber. Her signature logo is featured on the back of the boots. These boots are perfect to wear with leggings or jeans a fleece shirt for a cold and wintery day when you cannot stay inside where it is warm.

Marc Jacobs also has an interpretation of these classic boots. Marc ‘s lace-up duck boots feature suede trim at the quilted nylon shaft and raised seam details at the contrast rubber foot. His boots are quite chic and stylish. They are Sherpa lined and feature a great lug sole. These are also great with legging or skinny jeans. If the weather is not too cold you can even pair them with a great pair of solid or graphic tight.

Those were some of our favorite duck boots but there are plenty more. Many brands are producing duck boots for the winter , fall , spring, and summer. Brands including Merrell, North Face, Tory Burch, Hunter, Marc Jacobs, Menora, Lucky Brand, Duck Head and many more are producing some of the hottest duck boots.
We love all the styles too from ankle to tall boots, featuring fur lined and everything else in between. You will feel warm and dry no matter how harsh the weather is outside and you will look great doing so.
