A lot of women think that they have big feet, and of course they want to make them look as small as possible. If this sounds just like you, take heart- other people probably don’t hold the same opinion that you do.
In the US, there’s only a 1/3″ difference between whole sizes. If you wear a ten, and wish that your feet were a couple of sizes smaller, don’t fret. 2/3 of an inch isn’t that much. Don’t be embarrassed, because you can find stylish and suitable shoes, no matter what size your feet are.
If your feet are bigger than average, you probably have a lot of trouble finding shoes that fit. There are a lot of online retailers that carry hard to find sizes, as well as some brick-and-mortar stores that cater to those with big feet.
If you want to minimize the appearance of large feet, wear heels. They may not be the most practical shoes, but the height that they add will make large feet look a lot smaller. Chunky heels and wedges are excellent choices here. Avoid shoes with pointy toes, as they can make feet appear longer. Darker shoe colors, such as black, deep red, blue and green will also make the feet appear a bit smaller.
Avoid strappy sandals if you have large feet. Instead, try peep-toes or sling-backs. A shoe with an open toe will make the foot appear smaller than a shoe with an opening that’s closer to the ankle. Accents will also help the feet look smaller, so choose shoes that have buckles, bows, or other detailing.
The tips offered here are good rules to go by, but there are so many factors at play that there’s really no “one size fits all” guide to minimizing big feet. The best thing you can do is try many different shoes on until you find some that suit you.
