Your wedding is supposed to be a magical day, and you’ll want it (and your shoes) to be perfect. Here, we’ll go over a few suggestions that will come in handy when you’re shopping for your bridal shoes.

Your shoes should be many things, all rolled into one- but first and foremost they need to be comfortable. Think about it- you’re going to be on your feet for hours…posing for snapshots, greeting guests, dancing, cutting the cake, and of course walking down the aisle! Choose shoes that you won’t want to take off after standing in them for an hour.

Heel height is important, too. Your dress will probably be fitted while you’re wearing your bridal shoes, and if you aren’t good at walking in stilettos, your wedding day may not be the time to experiment with them. In this case, opt for a kitten heel or a wedge, to provide some stability for those tootsies. Flats are a fine choice, too.

Fabric is a vital decision that you’ll need to make. Silk or satin bridal shoes are traditional, but your personal taste should dictate your choice. If you have an edgy sense of fashion, or your dress and ceremony are non-traditional, your shoes can be trendy or funky, too. For a romantic, a pair of lacy white ankle boots would be great. A trendy bride could choose a pair of shoes with a wider, chunky heel.

While your shoes should match your dress, and your wedding’s “vibe”, they should also be a reflection of your style. After all, it’s your day!
